Mumbai Indians trades Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore for IPL 2024

The Mumbai Indians (MI) transferred all-rounder Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday in advance of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 player auction.

MI Cameron Green, a batsman, has been assigned to Royal Challengers Bangalore. Green played in 16 matches after being purchased at auction for a record 17.5 crore last December. The Australian batsman made a fantastic start to the IPL, scoring an unbeaten century and two half-centuries while also taking six wickets. The transaction was carried out in conformity with the current player fee.

This action comes on the heels of the Mumbai Indians’ successful completion of another high-profile all-cash deal to acquire all-rounder Hardik Pandya from the Gujarat Titans.

Green’s quickfire 26-ball 44 in the famous chase against Rajasthan Royals and his century in the last league game to propel MI into the playoffs will go down as two of his most memorable IPL performances for MI.

“With Hardik Pandya drafted in (15 INR) and Green released (17.5 cr INR), the purse with Mumbai Indians entering the IPL 2024 Auction is now 17.75cr INR,” Mumbai Indians declared in an official statement.

RCB has released Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, and Indian pacer Harshal Patel ahead of the IPL next year.

Other players who have been released include New Zealanders Finn Allen and Michael Bracewell, South African all-rounder Wayne Parnell, England’s David Willey, and Indians Sonu Yadav, Avinash Singh, Siddharth Kaul, and Kedar Jadhav.

RCB sold all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed to Sunrisers Hyderabad in exchange for all-rounder Mayank Dagar.

On Sunday, the player retention window for the Indian Premier League 2024 season closed, with the 10 franchises retaining a total of 173 players.

Mumbai Indians retained players: Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Piyush Chawla, Akash Madhwal, Nehal Wadhera, Kumar Kartikeya Singh, Vishnu Vinod, Shams Mulani, Arjun Tendulkar, Tim David, Dewald Brevis, Jason Behrendorff, Romario Shepherd (traded in from LSG), Hardik Pandya (traded in from GT).
