ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2023: Namibia Qualify For T20 World Cup 2024

Namibia qualified for the men’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Tuesday with 10 points and a net run rate of +2.643, ensuring a top-two finish on the Africa region qualifying points table, according to the International Cricket Council. From June 4 to 30, next year, the West Indies and the United States will host the T20 World Cup.

According to the ICC, Namibia’s five wins in five matches have not only propelled them to the top of the points table, assuring their third consecutive involvement in the event.

“The Eagles currently sit on top of the table with 10 points, with their win against Tanzania ensuring a top-two finish required to qualify for the showpiece event next year,” the International Cricket Council (ICC) wrote on its website.

From the African continent, Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria remain in the running. Uganda and Kenya are in a stronger position than Zimbabwe and Nigeria, which will have to wait for other results to go their way.

Uganda stunned Zimbabwe by five wickets a few days ago to secure two key points in the Qualifiers.

The next edition of the showcase will have 20 teams grouped into four groups of five teams each, with 12 teams already qualified.

This features the co-hosts West Indies and the United States, as well as the top eight teams from the last T20 World Cup in Australia, as well as Afghanistan and Bangladesh, the next two best teams on the November 14, 2022 cut-off date.
