Josh Brown signs up with Chattogram Challengers

Josh Brown will have the opportunity to build on his hot streak, which resulted in the BBL title for Brisbane Heat in the Bangladesh Premier League, after signing with Chattogram Challengers.

The 30-year-old scored a dazzling 140 in the Challenger before adding a half-century in the final as Heat won their second title.

And that was enough to persuade Challengers, who had won two of their first three matches, to sign the Australian for the campaign.

Challengers will next face Fortune Barishal on Saturday (January 27) in Sylhet.

According to the Australian Associated Press, he has also received interest from the ILT20, which is taking place in the United Arab Emirates at the same time.

“Absolutely, I’d be interested,” Brown told Fox Sports after his 140. “If the opportunity came up, I’d take it with both hands. I’ve just got to keep scoring runs.”

Brown, a grade cricket regular who has previously played for Northern Suburbs DCC, made his List A debut for Queensland in February 2023.

The Pakistan Cricket Board denied Mohammad Haris a No-Objection Certificate to play in the competition, forcing challengers to take action.

The PCB allows centrally contracted players to compete in two international leagues in addition to the Pakistan Super League, with Haris previously appearing in the Lanka Premier League and the Global T20 Canada in July.

The move replicates Jake Fraser-McGurk’s successful home summer, which earned him an ILT20 contract and a spot in Australia’s ODI squad against the West Indies.
