South Africa’s left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj will compete in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2024). The 34-year-old will play for Fortune Barishal in his first appearance in the Bangladesh-based franchise championship.
Keshav Maharaj is now scheduled to arrive in Chattogram on February 13 and will be available for Fortune Barishal’s next game, according to ESPNCricinfo. He will enter the League after a successful season with the Durban Super Giants in SA202024.
Keshav Maharaj captained the Durban Super Giants in the SA20 2024 tournament, leading them to the final. He, however, did not have a fairytale ending, as his club lost to Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the summit battle.
Keshav Maharaj did not play for South Africa in their Test series against New Zealand. The proteas have picked an inexperienced team for the series. The left-arm spinner will arrive in Bangladesh on the same day that his national side plays its second Test against New Zealand in Hamilton.
Keshav Maharaj will skip the home four-day competition in South Africa. His participation will strengthen Fortune Barishal in the Bangladesh Premier League 2024. The franchise is having a tremendous season in the league, sitting in the top four on the points table.
