Afghan Spinner Noor Ahmad banned from ILT20 for 12 months due to breach of contract

The International League T20 (ILT20) has suspended spinner Noor Ahmad for a year for violating his Player Agreement with the Sharjah Warriors, who signed him for Season 1 of the tournament. The Warriors offered Noor another year’s extension, but he declined to sign the retention notice for season 2.

Noor played with Sharjah Warriors in Season 1 of the ILT20 (January-February 2023), and they sent him a retention notice with the same terms and conditions as the Player Agreement terms for Season 2.

Following Noor’s refusal, the Sharjah Warriors asked the ILT20 to intervene in the dispute.

The ILT20’s three-member Disciplinary Committee, which included the league’s CEO, David White, Head of Security and Anti-Corruption Col. Azam, and Emirates Cricket Board Member Zayed Abbas, investigated the incident and heard both sides separately. After reviewing the facts presented, the Disciplinary Committee issued its final decision of a 12-month ban on Noor.

The committee initially recommended a 20-month ban, but took into account the fact that Noor was a minor at the time of signing the Player Agreement and had informed the committee that his agent had not informed him of the full terms of the contract, and thus pardoned him for eight months of his original ban.
