Delhi Capitals rope in Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk to replace injured Lungi Ngidi in IPL 2024

The Delhi Capitals have hired Australian all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk to replace South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi, who has been ruled out of the IPL 2024 due to injury.
Fraser-McGurk has joined the franchise with a reserve price of Rs 50 lakh.

“Delhi Capitals (DC) named all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk as a replacement for Lungisani Ngidi for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Ngidi, who has played 14 IPL matches and has 25 wickets against his name, was ruled out of the TATA IPL 2024 due to injury. Jake Fraser-McGurk has played 2 ODIs for Australia. He joins DC for his reserve price of INR 50 Lac,” IPL stated.

The Capitals placed ninth in the points table previous season and are seeking to improve their performance. They lost nine games and won only five in the previous campaign.

Harry Brook, another DC player, has also withdrawn from the tournament owing to the loss of his grandma.

Previously, the BCCI confirmed that Rishabh Pant has been deemed fit and is available to lead the franchise. He was out of cricket for about 15 months due to a vehicle accident.

Pant has been with DC since 2016 and has scored 2,838 runs in 98 matches at an average of 34.61 and a strike rate of over 147, including one century and 15 fifties.

The 17th season of the competition will begin on March 22 with the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Delhi Capitals will play their home matches against CSK and KKR in Vizag on March 31 and April 3.
