Rashid Khan has pulled out of the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9

Rashid Khan has decided to forgo the Pakistan Super League 2024 since he has not fully recovered from his back surgery. The Lahore Qalandars spinner also missed the three-match T20I series against India.

Rashid has been with the Lahore Qalandars for the past three seasons, winning the title in 2022 and 2023. He was placed in the silver category by the franchise prior to the December draft.

The management was aware of his unavailability, but they retained him in order to keep the best spinner on the squad for future seasons.

He has now officially withdrawn from the competition due to his ongoing rehabilitation after undergoing surgery in November. Rashid has also opted out of the Big Bash League 2023-24, where he plays for the Adelaide Strikers.

Jonathan Trott, Afghanistan’s head coach, did not want to jeopardise his best spinner. “We need to make sure his back is fine before calling him back into the team. He plays a key role for the team. He will be the first to take the pitch when he is ready. He has a few more checkups to determine the extent of his recuperation. “I hope he returns soon,” Jonathan Trott remarked.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Rashid will be ready to play for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024.

The Lahore Qalandars will also recruit a partial replacement for Dan Lawrence, who has been added to England’s Test squad after Harry Brook was ruled out of the five-match series owing to personal reasons.

Noor Ahmad will not play for Peshawar Zalmi after prioritising national duty over the T20 league.

Zalmi will also sign a replacement for Naveen Ul Haq, who would most likely play for Afghanistan during the PSL season.

The Karachi Kings will sign partial replacements for Kieron Pollard and Tim Seifert, while the Quetta Gladiators will search for a player to replace Wanindu Hasaranga.

Tom Curran, who was scheduled to play for Islamabad United, is out with a knee injury acquired while playing for the Sydney Sixers in the BBL.
