UAE-bound Usman Khan included in Pakistan training camp ahead of NZ T20Is series

Usman was picked with 28 other players for the camp, which runs from March 26 to April 8, in a clear indication of Pakistan’s aim to entice him to play international cricket for his home country.

Usman Khan, the UAE’s Pakistan-born top-order batsman, has been summoned up to Pakistan’s army training camp in Kakul. Usman was picked with 28 other players for the camp, which runs from March 26 to April 8, in a clear indication of Pakistan’s aim to entice him to play international cricket for his home country.

However, there has been no word from the PCB on Usman’s selection or any official change to his status as a UAE player. He competed in the PSL as a registered overseas player for the last month, scoring the tournament’s second-highest number of runs. Prior to the PSL, Usman competed in the ILT20, the UAE’s franchise T20 league, and the Abu Dhabi T10, both as a local player representing the UAE.

Usman cited the instability in Pakistan, as well as the ease of obtaining no-objection certifications from the Emirates Cricket Board, as factors for switching allegiances. However, because he has not yet played for the UAE, Usman can return to Pakistan immediately. However, given the speed with which changes have occurred at the PCB, it appears fairly inevitable that Usman will be selected in Pakistan’s team for the next five-match T20I series against New Zealand, with a focus on the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States in June.

Pakistan’s training camp also sees the return of two players who recently reversed their retirement plans and proclaimed their desire to play for Pakistan again. Imad Wasim, whose achievements in the PSL and track record in the CPL make him an appealing prospect for Pakistan, came out of retirement this weekend. He was followed by Mohammad Amir, who stated that he still wanted to play for Pakistan and was making himself available.

Haris Rauf, who is rehabilitating from a shoulder ailment, has also been included after the PCB reinstated his central contract.
