On Thursday evening, the Government of India presented the Nepal national cricket team with a cricket kit, which is expected to increase performance and training for the Rhinos.
The Nepali cricket squad, dubbed the Rhinos, has risen quickly in a short period of time. The Indian Ambassador to Nepal handed away 20 cricket bats and shoes during a ceremony conducted inside the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, adding another brick to a growing bond.
“We are very grateful and honoured that the Indian Embassy has given us an opportunity to establish this relationship more than handing over the kit, I believe it is the start of a better and bigger relationship that Nepal Cricket requires,” said Paras Khadka, Secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal, while speaking at the event.
Furthermore, Khadka, the former national team captain who is now an administrative member of the Nepal cricketing body, advocated increased cooperation and coordination between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Nepal cricketing body to strengthen the Nepal team’s capacity.
Nepal’s national cricket team captain, Rohit Paudel, has asked Indian Embassy officials for more opportunities to play or practise with the Indian squad.
“I do not have to mention what BCCI means to world cricket, India is such a close neighbour, we hope to get involved with the BCCI and of course the Indian Government to help Nepal cricket,” said Rohit Paudel, the national team captain. Our cricket has taken a different turn since we competed in the Asia Cup with the Indian team.”
“In cricket, I believe India is the best team right now.” We believe that if we get the chance to play against them or if they run the team, it will be a tremendous opportunity for all of us. I believe you (the Indian Embassy) will contribute to the development of that connection with India. “On behalf of the Nepali cricket team, I would like to thank the Indian Embassy for providing us with the kits,” Paudel stated while speaking at the occasion and expressing his desire for greater exposure with the Indian team.
In his remarks at the event, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava promised to make all possible efforts to help and support the Rhinos (Nepali cricket team), noting that Thursday’s transfer is just the beginning of the journey.
