Virat Kohli will forego the white-ball games during India’s tour to South Africa, which begins on December 10 with a T20I in Durban.
Kohli informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he requires a sabbatical from cricket. India will face the Proteas in three T20 internationals, three ODIs, and two Test matches.
Meanwhile, The Indian Express reports that Kohli will return for the Test matches.
The squad will be chosen by a national selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar.
Kohli scored 765 runs in 11 World Cup innings, including three hundreds. He was also crowned tournament champion.
“Virat has informed the BCCI and selectors that he needs a break before playing Test matches against South Africa,” a person familiar with the matter said.
The first Test begins on Boxing Day in Centurion, with the second in Cape Town.
Kohli and his family are currently in London. He’s been playing cricket nonstop.
However, there is no word on whether Rohit Sharma would be available for the forthcoming tour. He is also having a good time in the United Kingdom.
