IPL 2024 likely to begin from March 22, Josh Hazlewood, Mustafizur Rahman partially available for the league

Several countries, including Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), Cricket West Indies (CWI), Cricket South Africa (CSA), New Zealand Cricket (NZC), and Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC), have assured full participation of their players in the IPL 2024 auction. According to reports, the 17th edition of the event would be held from March 22 to the end of May by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

However, due to the country’s general elections in 2024, the exact dates have yet to be finalised, with the timeline reliant on the election calendar. While most boards have allowed full participation for their players, the boards of England, Ireland, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have provided conditional consent.

According to Cricbuzz, most Australian players will be eligible for the IPL, with the exception of fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who will play in the league beginning in the first week of May. Cricket Australia (CA) has informed the BCCI that all of its players will be available for the duration of the competition, with the exception of Hazlewood and those competing in the Sheffield Shield final.

In addition, the players can pick the IPL over the Sheffield Shield final, which takes place from March 21 to 25. Aside from that, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has assured that all of its players are available unless they are injured or have international duties.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (B) and Cricket Ireland (CI) have confirmed the partial absence of their players, with Mustafizur Rahman and Joshua Little granted special permissions. Little will be accessible throughout the competition, whereas Rahman will be available between March 22 and May 11. Taskin Ahmed and Md. Shoriful Islam, both from Bangladesh, will also be unavailable for the auction.

Furthermore, from March 30 to April 3, Sri Lanka will play their second Test against Bangladesh. As a result, several of their players will be unavailable throughout that time period. Those who do not play Tests, such as Maheesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Matheesha Pathirana, and Dushmantha Chameera, will be seen playing throughout the tournament.
