Jhye Richardson has been ruled out of the remainder of Perth’s Big Bash League championship defence due to a side strain.
Richardson pulled up sore after the Scorchers’ loss to Brisbane just hours after being picked to make his return for Australia in one-day international cricket.
Scans later revealed that the 27-year-old had suffered a side strain, ruling him out for at least a fortnight and putting his return against the West Indies in doubt.
Richardson’s international career has been hampered by a series of injuries that have limited him to 36 matches for Australia across all formats since his debut in 2017.
With a dislocated bowling shoulder, the paceman missed the start of this season’s Sheffield Shield.
Richardson has also battled a hamstring injury this year, in addition to past heel, shin, and shoulder issues.
