Shahbaz Nadeem announces retirement from all forms of cricket in India

Shahbaz Nadeem, a cricketing icon from Jharkhand, has announced his retirement from international cricket, after a two-decade career that included over 500 first-class wickets.

Nadeem made his first-class debut in 2004 against Kerala, taking two wickets in the process. Nadeem also played two Test matches for India, making his debut against South Africa in Ranchi in October 2019, taking four wickets before going on to face England in 2021.

He also played 72 matches in the IPL for the Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad. From being the leading wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy to making history with his outstanding performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, his career has been filled with moments of brilliance.

Nadeem was the Ranji Trophy’s leading wicket-taker in 2015-16 and 2016-17. Aside from that, he was the leading wicket-taker in the 2018 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He also had the greatest List A cricket figures: 8 for 10 against Rajasthan in 2018-19. He finished three seasons with more than 40 first-class wickets, however he may play for Jharkhand.

From 2013 to 2020, he got the most wickets for India A, with 83 at an average of 28.46.

Shahbaz is retiring from cricket after taking the eighth most wickets (416) in the Ranji Trophy, the domestic cricket competition. In first-class cricket, he has 542 wickets in 140 matches for an average of 28.86. Aside from that, he has 175 wickets on the list and 125 in T20.
