Kolkata Knight Riders has appointed England’s Phil Salt to their roster for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), replacing Jason Roy, who withdrew from the event owing to personal reasons.
This will be Salt’s second IPL season after being unsold in the auction after playing for the Delhi Capitals last year.
The English wicket-keeper hitter has played nine matches with the Capitals, hitting 218 runs at an average of 27.25. He has also achieved two half-centuries, with his highest score of 87.
Jason Roy, his fellow countryman, has played 21 IPL matches, scoring 614 runs at an average of 32.32. He had played for Gujarat Lions, Delhi Capitals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad before being acquired by KKR in 2023.
