Ambati Rayudu, a former Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings player, wants Rohit Sharma to play for CSK in the Indian Premier League 2025. The five-time champions fired Rohit as captain, and Hardik Pandya took up the role.
Rohit, who led MI to five trophies, is yet to respond to the startling news. However, his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, is upset and recently slammed head coach Mark Boucher for his statement over Rohit’s ouster as captain.
The Delhi Capitals were interested in Rohit after Mumbai dismissed him from the captaincy, but the franchise declined the offer.
Rayudu, who was a key member of the Mumbai team during his playing career, appears agitated and wants the veteran to relocate to Chennai.
He also supports Rohit to captain the Chennai Super Kings if MS Dhoni retires from the competition.
“I want Rohit Sharma to play for CSK in 2025, if MS retires then Rohit can lead as well,” he told News 24 Sports.
Rohit has scored over 6000 runs in 234 IPL appearances, including one hundred and forty-two fifties. He began his career with the Deccan Chargers (Sunrisers Hyderabad), but switched to the Mumbai Indians in 2011 and hasn’t looked back since.
Meanwhile, Rohit leads India in all forms and recently won a five-Test series against England. The hosts dominated the Ben Stokes-led team, 4-1. Rohit is likely to attend the Mumbai Indians’ pre-season camp after a brief hiatus.
