Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson resumed his impressive form after returning to international cricket from injury, scoring another century in the ongoing first Test against South Africa at Mount Maunganui on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old Kiwi top-order batsman produced his 31st Test century, and sixth in his last six innings in the longest format.
Williamson followed up his 118 in the first innings with 109 in the second, extending New Zealand’s lead beyond 500 runs. He is the fifth New Zealander to hit century in both innings of a Test, and this is his first time doing so.
Williamson scored his maiden century in the contest off 241 balls, and his second in 125 balls. He is also the third fastest batsman behind Sachin Tendulkar and Steven Smith to reach 31 tonnes in Test cricket.
