Shamar Joseph has been signed by the Peshawar Zalmi, a day after scoring a career-high 7/68 at the Gabba. The young cricket sensation surprised the globe a few weeks ago when he took Steve Smith’s wicket with his debut ball in Test cricket.
He followed up with his first five-haul in the same Test, introducing himself to the world. However, it turned out to be only the beginning. After Mitchell Starc broke and injured his toe, Shamar Joseph returned on Day 4 of the AUS versus WI 2nd Test, got a seven-wicket haul, and helped the West Indies win their first test in Australia in 27 years.
His Gabba heroics appeared to have propelled his franchise career. The right-arm fast bowler has little to no experience in the shortest format of the game, but his red-ball success has boosted his T20 career.
Shamar Joseph has only played two T20 matches, both of which happened in September 2023. After being selected by the Guyana Amazon Warriors to participate in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023, he appeared in two matches but failed to impress and was finally dropped.
