Rahul Dravid Is Likely To Replace Gautam Gambhir As Lucknow Super Giants Coach In Indian Premier League 2024 – Report

Rahul Dravid’s term as India’s head coach expired after the 2023 ODI World Cup, and he reportedly informed the BCCI that he will not extend his contract. Gautam Gambhir has left Lucknow Super Giants to coach Kolkata Knight Riders.

Following news that Rahul Dravid has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of his intention to step down as head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team, a new set of reports have surfaced regarding the former India captain’s intentions for the Indian Premier League 2024. Dravid is expected to take over as coach of the IPL’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the 2024 season.

Dravid’s two-year tenure as India’s head coach officially ended when the Men in Blue finished runners-up in the 2023 ODI World Cup. According to a source in Dainik Jagran, the BCCI is set to meet with Dravid about his future as head coach, but whether he would sign a contract extension remains to be seen.

According to the source, Dravid was also in talks with the Rajasthan Royals, a franchise he has represented and played for in previous IPL editions. However, it appears like Dravid will not join RR, as LSG appears to be his preferred next destination.

Dravid is said to be in talks with LSG about a prospective move. If he is not retained as India’s head coach, Dravid may join LSG as a mentor, replacing Gautam Gambhir. On November 22, Gambhir announced his departure from LSG and return to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a coach.
