Rohit Sharma To Lead India In 2024 T20 World Cup: Report

Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who is presently on leave, will lead Team India in the forthcoming T20 World Cup, which will be held in the United States and the West Indies next June.

Rohit is currently on leave and will miss the ongoing T20I series against Australia, as well as the T20I and ODI series against South Africa later this year.

“Rohit Sharma wanted the BCCI to immediately decide about the captaincy of the 2024 T20WC and BCCI has decided that Rohit will be the captain in T20 WC” according to Jaagran.

However, Rohit has not played a T20I match since the 2022 T20 World Cup, which India lost in the semi-finals to England in Australia.

Rohit will now captain India in the forthcoming Test series against South Africa, in which Virat Kohli will also play.

The openers in the Test team will be Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, in addition to regular openers Rohit Sharma and Shubham Gill. Pacers Mukesh Kumar and Prasidh Krishna have been added to the bowling unit, which also includes spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
