Sunrisers Hyderabad will look to enhance their performance in the IPL 2024.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are expected to name their new skipper for IPL 2024. The shift was predicted, given SRH’s poor performance over the previous three seasons. In the last three years, they have failed to qualify for the playoffs and finished in the bottom half of the points table.
The Sunrisers made some exciting alterations to their lineup during the IPL 2024 auction. One among them was the signing of Pat Cummins, the Australian captain. The quick bowling allrounder was signed for a staggering INR 20.5 crore.
According to speculations, Sunrisers Hyderabad intend to choose Pat Cummins as their next skipper. When Cummins was signed in the auction, it was expected that he would also be named team captain. Cummins is an experienced international performer who has led Australia to World Test Championship and World Cup victories.
His leadership abilities have been praised throughout the cricketing community, and they can benefit SRH’s performance as they strive for a better showing this time around. Cummins has also worked alongside SRH head coach Daniel Vettori in the Australian setup, increasing his prospects of leading the franchise.
Aiden Markram led Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous two rounds with little success. In the previous edition, SRH finished last in the points table, with four wins in fourteen games.
Markram did, however, lead Sunrisers Eastern Cape (a subsidiary of Sunrisers Hyderabad) to victory in the first two seasons of the SA20 competition. He is also the current captain of South Africa’s T20 team, which will likely lead them to the T20 World Cup in 2024.
Pat Cummins has previously played for the Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Overall, he has 45 wickets in 42 matches, with an average of 30.16. His economy of 8.54 may be on the high side, but he possesses the ability to pick up wickets with new ball.
