Suryakumar Yadav to join Mumbai Indians on 5 April: Reports

Suryakumar Yadav, an India middle-order batsman, is expected to be ready for the Mumbai Indians when they host the Delhi Capitals in their next IPL 2024 game. Surya was rehabilitating from a sports hernia and ankle injury suffered during the third T20I in South Africa last year.

His recuperation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru has gone well, and officials there have given him the go-ahead to participate in the IPL 2024. This revelation is a huge boost for MI, who are still the only team that has yet to win a single match.

Suryakumar Yadav, as we all know, has been a key performer for the Mumbai Indians since his comeback to the team in 2018 after four years with the Kolkata Knight Riders. The five-time champs spent 3.20 crores for Surya, who joined the team and made an immediate impact as a finisher.

Following his inclusion, MI won the IPL title in 2019 and 2020. He has always stood up for the club when given the opportunity, and this season, MI is even more desperate for his services.

The Mumbai Indians are currently at the bottom of the points table after losing to Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals. In all of those losses, MI has severely missed Suryakumar Yadav in the middle order, as evidenced by the matches against GT and SRH.

SKY could have came in and led the club to win in those two matches if he had been fit, but now that the NCA has cleared him, MI will want to include him in the starting XI.

Suryakumar Yadav’s availability to play against the Delhi Capitals on April 7th will be decided late by the Mumbai Indians team management. The coaching crew, directed by Mark Boucher, is keen on closely monitoring him during the net sessions before they conclude. Surya has missed four months of cricketing action and is recovering from two separate setbacks.

Suryakumar Yadav received a grade 2 ankle injury in the third and final T20I of the series in South Africa, where he captained the side in the absence of Hardik Pandya. Surya made a remarkable full-century in the first innings of that match, but was forced to leave the pitch in the second innings owing to an ankle injury.

Suryakumar Yadav had a sports hernia while healing from his previous ailment, necessitating surgery. So he was healing from both an accident and an illness, which explains why his rehabilitation had taken so long.

However, NCA officials allowed him to participate in IPL 2024 earlier today, and it is unclear whether he will be immediately inserted into the playing XI.
