Virat Kohli, India’s star batsman, has missed the two Tests against England due to personal concerns. In January, he excused himself from the first T20I against Afghanistan for similar reasons.
Though the specific cause for his absence from the pitch is unknown, his close friend and former South African hitter, AB de Villiers, has disclosed something that may shed some light.
On February 3, de Villiers said that Anushka Sharma and her husband, Virat Kohli, were expecting their second child. He stated that Virat is taking a break to spend time with his family.
He explained, “So I wrote to him, ‘I’ve been wanting to check in with you for a bit now, biscuits. How are you? He added, ‘I just need to be with my family right now. “I’m doing well,” de Villiers stated on his YouTube broadcast on Saturday.
“Yes, his second child is on its way. Yes, it’s family time, and these things are essential to him. If you are not loyal to yourself, you will lose track of why you are here. I believe that most people’s top focus is their families. “You can’t judge Virat for that,” he said.
The news has not been confirmed by Virat Kohli or Anushka Sharma.
Earlier, Kohli requested a break for the first two Tests of the upcoming series. The BCCI had demanded that fans and media respect Kohli’s privacy.
