Nepal’s all-rounder, DS Airee, makes history by hitting six sixes in one over

Dipendra Singh Airee of Nepal hit six sixes in an over during his team’s match against Qatar at the ACC Men’s Premier Cup in Oman’s Al Amarat on Saturday (April 13). With this achievement, he became only the third hitter in men’s T20I history to knock six consecutive sixes in an over, joining Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard.

Nepal, who will play in this year’s T20 World Cup, is now competing in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup, where they won their first match against Malaysia. In their second encounter, they will face Qatar.

Airee hit six sixes in the final over of the match off Kamran Khan’s bowling. He had scored 34 runs in the first 15 deliveries he faced, but the last over ballistics took him to a score of 21 off 64. Nepal scored 210 runs thanks to his knock.

Notably, Airee’s name has been in cricket history before. At the Asian Games in September 2023, the 24-year-old hit a nine-ball fifty against Mongolia, the fastest half-century in a men’s T20I.

In fact, while he recently equalled Yuvraj Singh’s record, his nine-ball half-century surpassed the former Indian cricketer, who previously held the mark for the fastest fifty in this format – a 12-ball half-century against England at the 2007 T20 World Cup.
